The Mason Public Schools Foundation exists to support and enhance curricula and education experiences for Mason's youth. The Foundation recognizes that the quality of education available to students is an essential factor in maintaining a strong community and developing productive, successful citizens. Since our inception in 1984 we have funded hundreds of grants to support the elementary, middle and high schools.

ENDOWMENT TO BE ESTABLISHED IN HONOR OF
2011 MASON CITIZEN OF THE YEAR,
MARGARET DOOLITTLE
Margaret Doolittle was a legend in the Mason community. A noted author, historian, school teacher and volunteer, Margaret succumbed to cancer on February 16, 2011. Six months later, her absence from this community is still strongly felt.
Margaret touched many lives during her years in Mason. Not only was she a beloved kindergarten teacher at North Aurelius Elementary School, but she was also a piano teacher; a calligraphy instructor; an author; an elder of Mason First Presbyterian Church; and a member of the Mason Historical Society, Mason Kiwanis, and Mason College Club. Margaret also performed various additional volunteer activities. Fittingly, Margaret was honored by the Mason Chamber of Commerce in 2004 as Teacher of the Year and again in 2011 as Citizen of the Year.
In recognition of the innumerable contributions Margaret made to our community during her life, the Mason Public Schools Foundation (MPSF) has established an endowment in her honor. Once realized, this endowment will be used to provide scholarships to graduating Mason High School seniors who personify Margaret's love of education and community service. "We have been waiting for a local organization to take on the challenge of setting up a Margaret Doolittle endowment fund," noted local business owner Peter Robinson, a close friend of Margaret. "What better way to honor Margaret than to donate to a cause that will support her two greatest passions."
The MPSF is a registered Section 501(c)(3) charitable organization that engages in numerous fundraising events throughout the year for the benefit of Mason Public School projects and educational activities. The Foundation seemed the natural choice for implementation of the Margaret Doolittle Endowment. "Providing funding for educational needs throughout the Mason district is what we do," said Beth Gorishek, MPSF President. "We are honored to be able to lead the way in setting up this endowment that will help provide scholarship funds to Mason students. Not only was Mrs. Doolittle passionate about education, but she was also an early member of the MPSF."
Those interested in contributing to this endowment can do so here by clicking on the donate button or can simply drop off their donation at any Dart Bank location. If you have any questions or need additional information, you are invited to contact MPSF Board Member Carrie Geyer at 517-282-0156 or carrie1@cablespeed.com. All contributions are tax deductible.

Mason Pizza Day is the first Wednesday of every month. This is a
great way to help the foundation and get a day off in the kitchen at
the same time! Participating pizzerias will donate $1.00 for each
pizza sold to the Mason Public Schools Foundation. 100% of the
proceeds will help benefit the Mason Technology Infusion Program which
integrates technology into K-12 classrooms. For more information and

WHY DONATE?
The Mason Public Schools Foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization made up of
community volunteers, the MPS Foundation acts to direct community contributions toward
expanding the learning opportunities for our students. Today’s investment in our youth will
create a better tomorrow for our students, our community, and our nation.
Last year the Foundation donated a total of $45,000.00 to the school district to aid in the
purchases of cutting edge technology for our children’s classrooms. Donations will be used to
continue the Foundation's funding of technology purchases for our high school, middle school,
and three elementary schools through the Mason Technology Infusion Project (MTIP). This
project ensures the availability of visually stimulating, interactive, multi-faceted presentations in
classrooms, and facilitates project-based, collaborative and individualized learning.
Sustaining these efforts requires an ongoing financial commitment from the Mason community.
As a result, we earnestly request your financial assistance in support of our students and
community. The MPS Foundation is a state licensed 501(C)(3) charitable organization and your
donation to the Foundation may qualify as a charitable deduction on your federal income tax
return. In today's difficult economic environment, when state budget cuts are limiting
educational funding, it is more important than ever that we work together to create positive,
innovative, and cutting-edge learning environments for our students.
We certainly hope that you will support our students and our community by choosing to make a
gift of a donation or a five-year pledge! Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Mason Public Schools Foundation
